school furniture

The Perch chair is contemporary, lightweight, stackable and adjustable. Though it aesthetically resembles traditional right-angles furniture, the chair functions like no other.

The patented flexible seat has a supported, rigid region from the ischial tuberosities (sit bones) region toward the back, to the front centre of the seat. This solid, non-flexible region, which forms a bike saddle like outline, provides the student with a secure, grounded platform, which will prevent forward slipping.

The rigid back section performs in the same way as a normal seat and offers a supportive and firm structure. The front rigid pommel section at the front secures the student onto the chair, preventing any sliding forwards.

When no force is applied to the seat wings, it relaxes into its neutral position. As force is applied to the front wings, they deform, proportionate to the pressure exerted. This force can be asymmetrical, allowing the student to fidget and move naturally.
